Bad News, Democrats: Collins and Murkowski Aren’t Going to Stop Kavanaugh

Democrats were hoping against hope that Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski would once again betray the party and join them in voting against President Trump’s new Supreme Court nominee.

It appears that those hopes were in vain.

Collins and Murkowski have both expressed their doubts about confirming a judge who was too far in the “pro-life” column, both of them being RINOs of the highest order and fully on board with the Planned Parenthood agenda. But it appears that by selecting Brett Kavanaugh, whose views on Roe v. Wade remain largely a secret, Trump may have chosen just the guy to get these Republicans on the right page.

Sorry, try again next time, Democrats.

While neither Collins nor Murkowski have said outright that they will vote to confirm Kavanaugh, they both indicated in separate interviews on Monday that they were leaning in that direction.

“Let’s put it this way,” said Murkowski when asked if she would vote for Kavanaugh. “There were some who have been on the list that I would have had a very, very difficult time supporting, just based on what was already publicly known about them. We’re not dealing with that.”

In remarks of her own to reporters, Collins said she was impressed with Kavanaugh’s record.

“It will be very difficult for anyone to argue that he’s not qualified for the job,” she said. “He clearly is qualified for the job. But there are other issues involving judicial temperament and his political, or rather, his judicial philosophy that also will play into my decision.”

At this point, there’s really no good reason to fear that Kavanaugh will not be confirmed. The Democrats jumped out of the gate in an attempt to smear him as this right-wing extremist, but the facts simply don’t match up with their propaganda. Kavanaugh is a wholly mainstream choice – even to the point that a handful of Republicans on the right side of the spectrum have expressed doubts about his fitness. We think those doubts are overblown to an extent, but we understand why they’re there. Kavanaugh, as Trump said, is a judge’s judge. He is dedicated to the Constitution and the law, even if that doesn’t always line up with a conservative’s dream agenda. That makes him the perfect choice for the Supreme Court. We don’t need conservative activists on the court to make up for the liberal ones. We don’t need to play the left’s game. We need people willing to look to the law, to the Constitution, and to the intent of the Founders to guide them in their opinions.

THAT is what strikes fear in the hearts of the Democrats. And we’re pretty sure that’s what we’ve got in Brett Kavanaugh.
