Okay, something is seriously wrong with Joe Biden. If this guy was a Republican, the media would have mental health professionals climbing over each other to tell the world that the former vice president is unfit to be in the Oval Office, and that his mental deterioration poses a clear and present danger to the United States. Instead, we’re treating these “gaffes” as if they’re some kind of humorous sideshow to the Democratic primaries. That may change as the gaffes pile up – certainly, his opponents are in desperate need of something to grab onto – but for now, we’re blissfully acting as though all of this is normal for a guy who wants to be the most powerful man in the world.
On Thursday, Biden made one of his most questionable comments yet.
Asked in South Carolina how he would handle the detention of migrants if he were to become president, Biden said, “We have to find a pathway for Dreamers.”
Already, he’s off the rails, but okay.
“These kids who come — and they end up doing well. They become Americans before a lot of Americans become Americans,” he told the crowd.
“No, I’m serious,” Biden said, clearly noticing that the crowd was looking at him as if he’d grown a third eye. “They get into school. They do well. They contribute to the community. They contribute to the country. So number one, we legalize the Dreamers.”
Because they do well in school, they become Americans before Americans become Americans? This is your argument for legalizing Dreamers, Joe?
“Number two, I would send, immediately, an amendment to the desk of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives — a bill to the desk — that said the following: We have to find a pathway to citizenship, earned citizenship, for the 11 million undocumented immigrants,” he added.
Well, this is the usual liberal pandering nonsense about immigration, but what really bears scrutiny is Biden’s mental state. This is far from the first time he’s strayed off the Path of Reasoned Discourse, and we assume it won’t be the last. Each time seems to get worse than the time before, and Biden’s latest foray into nonsense comes only a day after he told a fanciful, fictional tale of a Navy captain who resisted a medal of courage. The Washington Post noted that the story was great and all, but that “nearly every detail was wrong.”
And yet, Biden remains at the top of the Democratic polls. Mostly because, even with declining mental health, he remains a far more attractive candidate than the rest of the radical socialist field.
