You gotta hand it to the left; they know how to take advantage of a news cycle. In the middle of the controversy that exploded around the remarks Steve Bannon made to journalist Michael Wolff and the subsequent, scathing response from President Trump, Politico dropped this gem of an article about a psychiatry professor who met with a dozen members of Congress last month. The topic of discussion? The state of Donald Trump’s mental health.
Lawmakers concerned about President Donald Trump’s mental state summoned Yale University psychiatry professor Dr. Bandy X. Lee to Capitol Hill last month for two days of briefings about his recent behavior.
In private meetings with more than a dozen members of Congress held on Dec. 5 and 6, Lee briefed lawmakers — all Democrats except for one Republican senator, whom Lee declined to identify. Her professional warning to Capitol Hill: “He’s going to unravel, and we are seeing the signs.”
In an interview, she pointed to Trump “going back to conspiracy theories, denying things he has admitted before, his being drawn to violent videos.” Lee also warned, “We feel that the rush of tweeting is an indication of his falling apart under stress. Trump is going to get worse and will become uncontainable with the pressures of the presidency.”
The timing of this piece is no coincidence. This meeting, which included 11 Democrats and one (unidentified) Republican, took place on December 5th. Why was there no news about it until now? Well, because the thing with Bannon broke loose, for one, and the left senses a White House in weakness. Two, the entire media is jumping on the “psychologically unfit” train after a tweet the president sent on Wednesday, warning North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un that his nuclear button was bigger and more functional.
After Trump’s tweet, former Bush administration ethics lawyer Richard Painter, a man who spent most of 2017 on MSNBC bashing the president in his inimitable, harsh-on-the-ears growl, had a tweet of his own. “Two psychologically unfit men crowing about their nukes,” wrote Painter. “This is not a good way to start the New Year. Congress needs to deal with one of them and the UN Security Council needs to deal with the other.”
As far as we’re concerned, any Bush administration official who still believes in the power of the UN Security Council ought to be checked out by a psychiatrist themselves.
“This Tweet alone is grounds for removal from office under the 25th Amendment. This man should not have nukes,” Painter continued.
Ah, the 25th Amendment. That’s where all of this is headed…at least in the minds of NeverTrumpers and liberals in Washington who know impeachment is a pipe dream. They think they can actually talk Trump’s Cabinet (and the Vice-President) into having Trump removed from office on psychological grounds. They apparently think they can do this without causing an absolute civil crisis on the ground in the United States of America.
And TRUMP is the crazy one?
