It was only a couple of weeks ago that Attorney General William Barr stood in front of a Federalist Society dinner crowd to warn of President Donald Trump’s liberal opponents and how willing they are to defy norms, twist the law, and stoop to any depth necessary to “resist” the White House. In a speech that sent shockwaves across the left-wing community, Barr said that Trump’s enemies were using an “avalanche of subpoenas,” impeachment, and every other tool in the box to delegitimize the president, weaken him, and steal from him the rightful power of the Executive Branch.
“Now ‘resistance’ is the language used to describe insurgency against rule imposed by an occupying military power,” Barr explained. “It obviously connotes that the government is not legitimate. This is a very dangerous and, indeed, incendiary notation to import into the politics of a democratic republic.”
Trump’s critics feigned horror at the “politicization” of the Justice Department (a horror they never particularly cared about when the perpetrator was Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch, we’ll note), but their real horror stemmed from the fact that Barr has their number. They’ve grown so hostile towards this president that their entire strategy has worn to transparency. Barr sees it. Trump sees it. Any American who hasn’t been brainwashed by MSNBC sees it.
But not everyone understands exactly how dangerous it is.
In an interview with CBN this week, former CIA Analyst Michael Scheuer said that America is facing waters every bit as treacherous as those that preceded the Civil War.
“The federal government, at least the executive branch, is being denied the ability to execute its responsibilities, whether it’s here in Washington, or in places like Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco where, under the supremacy clause, Washington is very clearly responsible for immigration. There’s much more disruption and much more insurrection in this country than Lincoln faced until the Confederates fired at Ft. Sumter. It’s staggering to be in this position 160 years later,” Scheuer said.
Scheuer noted that the impeachment hearings are filled with witnesses who, far from accusing Trump of committing a crime, are simply whining about his refusal to follow their foreign policy advice. And he said that Democrats are twisting the law to convince the country that Trump is guilty of a constitutional infraction.
“When the Constitution says ‘bribery’, the Founders were talking about the President accepting bribes,” he said, a crime that has little or nothing to do with President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
Scheuer said that Democrats were at work on something far more sinister than simply removing Trump from office.
“What they’re doing is, as Mr. Barr said, trying to tear down the institutions of this country. They’re not the loyal opposition, they are an infestation of globalists who want to deny nationality to the United States and blend us in with the rest of the world,” he argued.
Yep, and they’ve been at work in Washington for a very long time. They are now facing a man in the White House who refuses to go along with their chicanery, and their “resistance” is turning into all-out war.
