On November 19th, 2015, Hillary Clinton responded to the terrorist attack in San Bernardino with a stunning tweet:
“Let’s be clear: Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.”
This was a baffling piece of nonsense that no one outside of CAIR could possible believe. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant? Those are the words you would use to describe countries like Afghanistan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia? Fact is, there are many non-terrorist Muslim leaders who know a lot more about their religion than Hillary Clinton, and you would have to be off your rocker to describe their beliefs as “tolerant.”
But the really insipid part is that Clinton believes (or, at least, pretends to believe) that Muslims have “nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.” If she actually believes that, she’s too stupid to be trusted with the presidency. If she doesn’t, she’s too politically correct to fight Islamic terrorism with the strength necessary to make progress. Either way, that statement should have disqualified her as a serious presidential candidate.
This week, after another horrifying massacre carried out in the name of Islam, Hillary Clinton appeared no less confused than she was last November. This was her summary of Orlando killer Omar Mateen:
“A madman filled with hate, with guns in his hands and just a horrible sense of vengeance and vindictiveness in his heart, apparently consumed by rage against LGBT Americans – and by extension, the openness and diversity that defines our American way of life.”
That is perhaps not as ridiculous as her November tweet, but it’s still pretty damn ridiculous. And her strategy for fighting ISIS boils down to: Eh, let’s just keep doing what we’ve been doing. Eventually, it’s got to work, right? Eventually, we’ll convince our “partners in the region” to start making a significant effort, right? Sure, sure. Any day now.
Like the rest of the Democratic Party, Hillary refuses to acknowledge the reality of the times we’re living in. Perhaps the solution to terrorism lies in gun control. Perhaps it lies in combating hatred against the LGBT community. Maybe we can somehow defeat ISIS by giving Planned Parenthood more federal funding. Who knows? The answer could literally be anything.
Well, anything that doesn’t include peering into the dark heart of Islam, that is.
