Thanks to the Democrats and their neverending media machine, the American people have been scatter-focused on one Trump scandal after another. Russia, immigration, Michael Cohen, Stormy Daniels, James Comey, Ukraine, Trump saying a dead lawmaker is in hell, it never stops.
But some on the left are starting to wake up to the fact that while they were purposely directing the public’s attention to all of these meaningless stories, President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were swiftly transforming the federal judiciary. And when the final story is written about the Trump Era, it may be this extraordinary effort that best exemplifies this president’s legacy.
In 2019 alone, President Trump has seen 102 of his nominated judges confirmed to the various district courts. This brings his overall total to 187, which of course includes two Supreme Court justices in Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch. Trump’s influence over the conservative court transformation will far outlast his actual presidency, and it will have an indelible impact on the United States for decades to come.
Liberals are, naturally, beginning to freak out.
“While all eyes were understandably on impeachment, Mitch McConnell’s conveyor belt churned out a shocking number of judges this week in what remains the most underrated story of the Trump era,″ said Christopher Kang of the liberal Demand Justice group.
It is not as though Trump and McConnell are trying to hide anything. Indeed, they are loudly and proudly trumpeting this success.
“It is not one party or the other that benefits when our federal courts consist of men and women who understand that a judge’s job is to follow the law, not to make the law,″ McConnell said last week. “The entire country benefits from that. Our constitutional system benefits from that.”
Naturally, the left doesn’t see it that way. They don’t see the Constitution that way. They see it as a “living document” that should be modified and translated through the trends of any given day. And that’s why they can’t imagine anything worse than a judiciary filled with judges who actually believe that the Constitution is the final word in U.S. law.
Particularly horrifying to them: The remaking of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
“The Senate confirmation of Lawrence VanDyke and Patrick Bumatay to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this month brought to nine the number of appointments President Donald Trump has made to the 29-member bench that serves as the last stop for nearly all legal complaints lodged in nine Western states. Democratic-appointed judges now hold a three-seat majority, compared with 11 at the start of Trump’s presidency,” reported Politico on Sunday.
For too long, the Democrats have used their stranglehold over the nation’s courts to change U.S. law to the point where it is illogical and unrecognizable. Thanks to Trump and McConnell, those days are coming to a decisive end. You want to talk about making America great again? This is it. No question.
