As far as we can read the record, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had nothing at all to say about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s shocking description of the 9/11 attacks at a CAIR event last month. Nor did any Democrat appear to have any problem whatsoever with their colleague dismissing the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history as “some people did something.” No issue at all with Omar turning the 9/11 attacks, visited upon this country by a sick strain of Islam, into a poor-me session about the plight of American Muslims.
But, oh boy, once President Trump tweeted out a video interspersing Omar’s remark with footage from that dreadful day, Democrats suddenly woke up. Not to criticize Omar, but to bash Trump for desecrating the memory of 9/11.
“The memory of 9/11 is sacred ground, and any discussion of it must be done with reverence,” Pelosi said in a statement. “The President shouldn’t use the painful images of 9/11 for a political attack. As we visit our troops in Stuttgart to thank them and be briefed by them, we honor our first responsibility as leaders to protect and defend the American people. It is wrong for the President, as Commander-in-Chief, to fan the flames to make anyone less safe.”
How is it that whenever someone criticizes a Muslim, or Islam in general, that it is THEM making people “less safe?” We’ve never quite understood that. Is Pelosi making Donald Trump less safe when she attacks him for policies she doesn’t like? Where does it end, exactly? Or are we supposed to just get together and pretend that Muslims weren’t responsible for 9/11? Is that it? We guess that it must be.
This is the second time that Nancy Pelosi has willfully ignored a dangerous statement from Ilhan Omar. And on both occasions, she has instead used it as an opportunity to attack the president. You recall that phony “bigotry resolution” they passed in the House shortly after Omar accused certain lawmakers of having dual loyalties to Israel and the U.S., right? Where, instead of mentioning Omar specifically, Pelosi and her buddies decided to talk about Trump’s remarks after Charlottesville. If these Democrats put their heads any further into the sand, they’ll start farting seashells.
At that same speech to CAIR, Omar encouraged Muslims to “make people feel uncomfortable.”
Well, Ilhan, you’re making us all uncomfortable, we have to admit. But what makes us even more uncomfortable is the fact that Democrats are so frozen by political correctness that they can’t see what’s right in front of their faces. It does not bode well for this nation if these rats ever get back in the White House.
