Speaking in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Monday, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton addressed the violent unrest in Milwaukee with the same useless platitudes we’ve come to expect from the left. It’s time, Hillary said, for us to “get back to the fundamental principle: everyone should have respect for the law and be respected by the law.”
That quote may look good on a poster, but like most of what you read on a poster, it’s vague nonsense at best.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker addressed Hillary’s comments on Fox & Friends the next day, telling the hosts that the nominee’s “shoulds” weren’t helping anything.
“In Sherman Park and in Milwaukee, they want law enforcement to step up and protect them,” Walker said. “The people who live in the neighborhood want police, they want the police in Milwaukee and the sheriff’s department to step up and protect them. They didn’t want the criminals who were doing those actions against those businesses to do that. And I think statements like that and the lack of leadership we have had from the president on this issue only inflame the situation.”
If any Democrat were to seriously address the chaos in many of this country’s once-great cities, it would require them to admit that they and they alone bear responsibility for the situation. It was through the left’s relentless war on the family unit, their demonization of traditional values, and their celebration of in-the-moment, worldly pleasures that this disaster was created. They can’t and won’t cop to that. Why? Because the situation is exactly as they want it. When chaos reigns, people reject liberty and embrace enslavement.
“When young men don’t have fathers around to shape their behavior, oftentimes they grow up to be unimaginable misfits that police have to deal with in the aggressive fashion like we saw Saturday,” Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke said on the show. Clarke said that liberal urban policies had created a generation of young black Americans content to rely on government support.
And that, too, has been intentional.
Never forget, the Democratic Party as an institution has one and only one ultimate goal: To replace true freedom with a state-controlled illusion of freedom. They consider themselves the architects of a glorious new utopia, but they can only build that idealized world when they have all the power. Everything they do is a stepping stone to that power. And cities like Milwaukee – where Democrats have ruled the roost for years – are the living evidence of what that power creates.
