Popular Mechanics Teaches Protesters How to Safely “Topple a Statue”

While conservative websites like The Federalist and Zero Hedge are being demonetized by Google for having the “wrong thoughts” about the current racial strife causing havoc all over the country, Popular Mechanics is signaling to anyone who will listen that they stand with the protesters. So much so that they are publishing scientifically-based articles for the sole purpose of helping racial justice activists to break the law in the name of furthering their cause. This, from what we can tell, is seen as a perfectly valid way to use one’s space on the internet by the powers that be in Silicon Valley.

“Should you happen to find yourself near a statue that you decide you no longer like, we asked scientists for the best, safest ways to bring it to the ground without anyone getting hurt—except, of course, for the inanimate racist who’s been dead for a century anyway,” read the feature article.

Popular Mechanics goes on to explain that there are two basic methods of bringing down one of these old, “racist” statues (you know, like the statue of Abraham Lincoln that activists want to remove in Boston): You can either use the “physical approach,” which involves using blunt force and plain tools like recovery straps and a butane torch, or you can use the “chemical approach,” which accomplishes the same thing with a much smaller crew of enablers.

“The formula is very simple,” a chemistry professor explained to the site. “It’s 3:1 by mass of rust and aluminum powder. You mix those together and use a piece of magnesium to use as a high temperature fuse. And if you don’t have one, you could use a sparkler.”

The professor goes on to suggest using a combination of thermite and liquid nitrogen. Not only will this quicken the job, it will produce a high-pitched whine as the metal dissolves.

“One could imagine it sounding something like the sound a confederate general would make if their feet were on fire,” the professor notes wryly.

There is no mention – not one – in the article that destroying a public or private statue is a crime. There is certainly no mention of the fact that a handful of “anti-racist” protesters have no right to make decisions like this on behalf of the entire community. And of course there is no mention that tearing down old monuments is a certifiably idiotic way to cure racism in the present day.

Just another day in Clown World, USA.
