It’s hard to imagine a more tone-deaf, uncompassionate response to the tragic Las Vegas mass shooting than the one offered by failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. At a time when President Trump was fully inhabiting a respectful, mournful, apolitical tone in his role as the nation’s leader, this hag was on Twitter proving (yet again) why she is unfit to sit in the Oval Office. Unable to step, even for a minute, outside her left-wing bubble to share words of peace and calm in the wake of one of the worst American tragedies in history, Clinton was the consummate opportunist as she attacked the NRA.
“Our grief isn’t enough,” Clinton wrote on Monday. “We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.”
In another tweet, she wrote, “Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.”
Unbelievable. The most absurd thing is her call to “put politics aside.” That’s a hell of a thing to write when you’re IN THE MIDDLE of a nakedly partisan rant against the National Rifle Association. That’s a hell of a thing to write just before you address a bill that is scheduled to come before Congress in the coming days. There was no point to her comments OTHER than politics, so it strikes us as extraordinarily distasteful for her to pretend otherwise. If you’re going to politicize a tragedy, you could at least have the courage of your convictions. But like most liberal anti-gun nuts, she is so wrapped up in her own moral certitude that she legitimately believes that there is nothing political or controversial about what she wrote. To them, it’s the NRA vs. America. They are blind to the fact that, without millions of Americans who strongly support the Second Amendment, there would BE no NRA. Or at least, not one with any significant power in politics.
The second most absurd thing is her inane attempt to connect the issue of gun silencers to this event. But that just shows you what a jam the Democrats are in this time around. With what we know about the shooter (as of Tuesday morning), he purchased all of his guns legally, yet modified them in some way so that they behaved like fully automatic machine guns. Those modifications are already illegal, the killer had nothing in his background to prevent him from buying guns, and so there’s very little we can do from a standpoint of regulation to prevent this kind of thing. So we hear this – a wild, out-of-left-field argument against silencers. It would have been only slightly more ridiculous if Hillary had called for a ban on country music.
Hillary Clinton wasn’t the only one making reckless calls for gun regulation on Monday, and she certainly won’t be the last. But she had the distinct honor of being among the first and most ignorant.
