Democrats Using Zika Bill to Rile Up Liberal Voters for November

It shouldn’t come as any surprise to see Democrats lying to the American public about the nature of politics, just as it shouldn’t surprise us to see the mainstream media thoughtlessly parroting those lies as truth. But somehow, when it comes to the Zika bill that keeps stalling out in the Senate, Democrats have managed to outdo themselves and surprise us once again.

On Tuesday, Senate Democrats blocked a bill that would direct $1.1 billion in federal funds to combat the spread of the Zika virus. Their story: That Republicans are playing games with the bill and using it as a backdoor opportunity to defund Planned Parenthood. That instead of focusing on the immediate crisis, senators like Marco Rubio are grandstanding for the conservative base.

“This is serious business,” said Montana Senator Jon Tester. “We shouldn’t be playing political games.”

Rubio’s Democratic counterpart, Florida Senator Bill Nelson, said, “Just the fact of monkeying around with something that’s otherwise than Zika is ridiculous, and especially taking money away from the centers that help the women.”

Of course, in reality, it is the Democrats who are putting the lives of Americans at risk so that they can give more money to their favorite abortionists. Unlike what you would believe if you listened to them squawk, the bill does not – and never did – “defund Planned Parenthood.” No version of the bill would have ever taken a single dime of the company’s precious taxpayer money.

But Democrats aren’t satisfied with that. They want to use the bill as a way to increase federal funding for Planned Parenthood, and Republicans are saying, “Nah, that’s not going to happen.” And so, knowing that most people – even those who consider themselves pro-choice – would blame this debacle on Democrats if they knew the truth, they are waging a full-scale propaganda assault to make sure they come out of this smelling like roses.

Both parties, to be fair, are hedging their bets on this one. If they really thought that Zika was going to turn out to be a national epidemic, we wouldn’t see all of this gridlock. Hopefully, they’re right.

But even if they are, this virus is going to kill people because Congress failed to act. And the blame for that lies squarely with the Democrats, who are using this issue to rile up their voters for the November election.
