New York is launching a campaign to help women in the state access information about abortions in an attempt to combat what they call the “misinformation” being spread by the pro-life movement. Using public funds, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has set up the “Know Your Options” campaign, which encourages New York women to visit a state website where they can “get the facts” about abortion and find links and addresses to companies providing “comprehensive family planning services.”
The governor’s office published a press release explaining why it was necessary to launch a campaign which purely exists to promote abortions.
“These actions are in direct response to widespread reports of organizations known as Crisis Pregnancy Centers or CPCs misrepresenting themselves as health center to dissuade those seeking abortion from going through with that choice,” the announcement read. “These reports show that CPCs often use false and misleading advertising and offer free services to attract women into their offices, where they then allegedly misinform and mislead those who seek pregnancy-related information.”
For a state to promote a company like Planned Parenthood while simultaneously calling out the pro-life movement for “false and misleading” advertising takes quite a bit of gall.
“While the federal government wages war on women’s reproductive rights, New York will fight back to protect women’s access to comprehensive, safe and affordable health care,” Cuomo said in promoting the campaign. “In New York, we refuse to let President Trump and Washington take us backwards and jeopardize the rights of New Yorkers. We are launching this public awareness campaign to combat the insidious spread of misleading, medically inaccurate information about reproductive health and to ensure all New York women know the options they are legally entitled to.”
On the website, potential parents are assured that one of the great benefits of living where they do is the ease with which they can terminate their pregnancy!
“You can end a pregnancy with a safe and legal abortion in New York,” the website proudly proclaims. “Talk to a quality family planning provider about the best option for you.”
The website then provides readers with two possible options, including the “safe, outpatient procedures” known an in-clinic abortions and the “medication abortions” that may be right for moms who are less than 10 weeks pregnant.
To make it harder for New York’s pregnant population to accidentally fall into the clutches of those nasty Crisis Pregnancy Centers trying to save their babies’ lives, the state will promote the Know Your Options campaign with posters plastered on the subway system.
If it terminates only one life, we suppose Cuomo will think it was all worth it.
