The Ugly New World Order is upon us. Over in the UK, a woman was fired for “misgendering” people on Twitter (which is another word for actually using the correct pronouns to describe someone’s actual sex). And over here, things aren’t much better. Jon Caldara, a columnist for the Denver Post, has been fired for arguing the ever-so-controversial biological reality that there are actually only two sexes: Male and female.
Having decided the day before yesterday that we were going to do away with the bedrock foundations of biology to make room for the left’s most absurd claims, however, even stating something as factually inarguable as that is enough to be cancelled.
“My column is not a soft voiced, sticky sweet NPR-styled piece which employs the language now mandated by the victim-centric, identity politics driven media,” Caldara wrote on Facebook. “What seemed to be the last straw for my column was my insistence that there are only two sexes and my frustration that to be inclusive of the transgendered (even that word isn’t allowed) we must lose our right to free speech.”
In a column on January 3, Caldara crossed the boundaries of political correctness to say: “There are only two sexes, identified by an XX or XY chromosome. That is the very definition of binary. The AP ruling it isn’t so doesn’t change science. It’s a premeditative attempt to change culture and policy. It’s activism.”
Two weeks later, as he clung to his job by a thread, Caldara doubled down by criticizing a new Colorado law requiring elementary school kids to be exposed to transgender propaganda.
“Some parents weren’t thrilled a couple of years back when during school their little ones in Boulder Valley School District were treated to videos starring a transgender teddy bear teaching the kids how to misuse pronouns or when Colorado’s ‘Trans Community Choir’ sang to kids about a transgender raven,” Caldara wrote. “What are the protections for a parent who feels transgender singing groups and teddy bears with gender dysphoria might be ‘stigmatizing’ for their kid?”
And that was it. Caldara was informed that his opinions were no longer welcome in the Post, and the paper has moved on to find another conservative to fill his spot. A conservative who will not push back on the social justice madness that is quickly turning our country into a chaotic morass of Marxist thought. A safe conservative, in other words: One who will generally parrot the left’s unquestionable commands while also making the occasional push for lower taxes.
They really are terrified to have their nonsensical beliefs challenged.
