Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez imagine they see racism and sexism behind everything, so it was with little surprise that we watched the New York lawmaker climb on top of her Woke High Horse on Monday. Someone had sent AOC a quote from White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany in which she referred to the Bronx lawmaker as Joe Biden’s adviser. McEnany was clearly trying to tie Biden to some of the more radical elements in the Democratic Party, but that wasn’t the part that bothered Ocasio-Cortez. No, she was upset for a far stupider reason.
Noting that a Politico reporter quoted McEnany as referring to AOC as “Biden adviser Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” the socialist congresswoman exercised her wagging finger.
“@PressSec wouldn’t be the first person to mistake a women of color for having a lower position or title than she does, but Kayleigh – in case you haven’t picked up a newspaper in two years, I’m a Congresswoman,” she wrote.
“The @PressSec comment is steeped in a long, hurtful, & horrendous history of stripping women of color of titles and diminishing them to ‘the help,’” she continued, digging the hole deeper. “Perhaps she isn’t aware that what she did is mired in racist history. If that is the case, I look forward to her apology tomorrow.”
Ocasio-Cortez and her Squad are known for making mountains out of…well, not even molehills, but thin air…but even for her, this was a stretch. McEnany slings an arrow at her for advising the Biden campaign, and AOC has to turn it into some kind of history of racism? Please.
While Ocasio-Cortez’s outburst would have been embarrassing even if we left it at that, it actually gets much worse. Because as McEnany quickly pointed out, she didn’t even have her facts straight.
“Read the transcript, Congresswoman,” McEnany tweeted.
In said transcript, McEnany said: “The fact that you have sitting congresswomen wanting to defund the police – notably Rashida Tlaib, notably Biden adviser AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – former Clinton and Eric Holder spokesperson Brian Fallon, wanting to defund our police across this country, it is extraordinary.”
Now we’ll see if Ocasio-Cortez has the humility to offer her own apology to the White House press secretary. Somehow, we don’t feel inspired to hold our breath.
