Democrats to Court: We’re Considering “New Articles of Impeachment”

Did you think that the ridiculous impeachment saga ended when the Senate decisively put House Democrats in their place with the final vote to acquit Trump on both counts? Well, that vote may have put an end to the Democrats’ quest to kick Trump out of office for making a phone call to the Ukrainian president, but it certainly didn’t bring their dreams of undoing the 2016 election to a conclusion. Not only are House Democrats gearing up to use the coronavirus as an excuse to conduct further phony investigations into the president, they are telling the Supreme Court that they need access to redacted grand jury material from Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

Why?

Well, here’s how they explained it to the court: “The Committee’s investigation did not cease with the conclusion of the impeachment trial. If this material reveals new evidence supporting the conclusion that President Trump committed impeachable offenses that are not covered by the articles adopted by the House, the committee will proceed accordingly — including, if necessary, by considering whether to recommend new articles of impeachment.”

Like a vampire who doesn’t know that he’s been staked through the heart, these Democrats simply won’t stay down. Ordinarily, we’d see that as an admirable quality in an individual who has been beaten as badly as these fools. Sometimes, though, people keep going not because they’re brave but because they’re too stupid to know when to quit.

Lawyers for the House Democrats said that they were chiefly interested in “the possible exercise of improper political influence over recent decisions made in the Roger Stone and Michael Flynn prosecutions, both of which were initiated by the special counsel.”

They showed no such interest in whether or not “improper political influence” initiated the investigations into those men in the first place.

Anyway, to encapsulate: First came the Russia hoax. Result: Complete exoneration of the president and his campaign staff.

Second came the ludicrous Obstruction of Justice charge, accusing Trump of blocking an investigation that (somehow) came to its natural conclusion anyway. Result: Mueller declined to recommend a charge one way or the other, but Attorney General William Barr dismissed the nonsensical idea out of hand.

Third came the Ukraine Idiocy, in which Democrats decided that it was an impeachable offense for the president to withhold funding – even for a month or two – to make sure taxpayer money wasn’t going to waste in a corrupt government. Result: Dems impeached on a party line vote, accomplishing nothing. The Senate acquitted Trump on both counts.

And now? Apparently the Democrats are going back to the Russia/obstruction well, to see if there’s anything they overlooked. Well, the truth is, there is plenty they overlooked. It’s hiding in plain sight, going by the social media hashtag #Obamagate.

For some reason, they don’t seem too interested.
