Only a feminist movement that has become deeply unmoored by the supposed principles of feminism could possibly select as one of its leaders an Islamic radical like Linda Sarsour. Sarsour’s public profile went through the roof this year as she (along with three other radical feminists) co-chaired the Women’s March on Washington, an event that turned into an organization. How many people who marched in that event really know what Sarsour and her fellow organizers believe? How many people know that Sarsour is an apologist for the worst of Islam and is a believer in concepts like Sharia Law – concepts that go directly against the idea of any rational version of feminism? How many people know that she is an unapologetic Jew-hater who would legitimately choose ISIS over Israel every single time?
How many people know she threw her fellow female activists to the wolves when they came to her with accusations of sexual assault?
This latter story comes to us courtesy of The Daily Caller, which is reporting that while Sarsour was the head of the Arab American Association, at least one victim of sexual harassment and assault was threatened, mocked, and insulted by the so-called feminist icon.
From the Daily Caller:
Allegations of groping and unwanted touching were allegedly brought to Sarsour during her time as executive director of the Arab American Association. In response, Sarsour, a self-proclaimed champion of women, attacked the woman bringing the allegations, often threatening and body-shaming her, these sources alleged. The most serious allegations were dismissed, Asmi Fathelbab, the alleged victim told The Daily Caller, because the accused was a “good Muslim” who was “always at the Mosque.”
“She oversaw an environment unsafe and abusive to women,” said Fethelbab, a former employee at the Arab American Association. “Women who put [Sarsour] on a pedestal for women’s rights and empowerment deserve to know how she really treats us.”
The entire story is worth a read, because it shows you exactly what kind of “feminist” Sarsour really is. Given the choice between standing up for a woman and standing up for a “good Muslim,” she didn’t even hesitate to show the victim exactly where her allegiances lied.
But that comes as absolutely no surprise to us. And it will not be a surprise when the mainstream media goes out of its way to avoid reporting on this story and avoid tearing down the woman they’ve made into a hero over the last year.
