In a classic rant on his show Wednesday, legendary radio icon Rush Limbaugh unleashed pure fury on the legions of NeverTrump Republicans who populate the cable news airwaves, all of them muttering about how “hard” it is to defend President Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president. Having had it up to here with their misleading and cowardly approach to Trump, Limbaugh blasted them for not only betraying the president and the Republican Party with their anemic new careers but also everything they’ve ever claimed to believe in.
“There’s nothing hard to defend about the phone call!” Limbaugh said. “You just don’t want to defend it! You know, Fox really ought to change the name of the network from the Fox News Channel to the Fox Never Trumper Network, because that’s who’s getting the highlights, and they’re bringing in Democrats like Donna Brazile.
“What do you mean, ‘The phone call’s hard to defend’? The phone call’s not hard to defend, and Trump isn’t hard to defend,” Limbaugh continued. “But if Trump is hard to defend, what about conservatism, you Never Trumpers? Can you defend that? Do you not understand that conservatism’s under assault? You may not be because you’re renouncing conservatism to sidle up with these guys that you don’t want to be criticized by. So you’d rather be friends with these nincompoops on the left than have to defend your own side and defend your own beliefs!”
It really is a pathetic situation, and the idiots on Fox News are more easily tolerated than the faux-Republicans you find on the other two channels…or at the Washington Post/New York Times. People like Jennifer Rubin. People like Michael Steele. People like Nicolle Wallace. These repugnant turncoats have turned their backs on conservatism for the sake of maintaining respect among their Beltway/New York peers and, in some cases, for the sake of advancing their television careers. It’s classless, it’s jarring, and it’s unforgivable.
Later, Limbaugh theorized about why, after all the nonsense the left has thrown at Trump, THIS phone call was the thing they decided was a bridge too far. And we have to say, his theory makes a lot of sense.
“There’s a new Ukraine president. Trump was calling to congratulate him on his victory! As part of the congratulations…’Hey, I got a favor for you,’ and that’s when he mentioned CrowdStrike, and that’s when all of this blew up because CrowdStrike and Fusion GPS are two of the entities that hold the keys to this entire sordid affair,” Limbaugh surmised.
There it is. You think the Democrats would really go to the mat for Joe Biden, who is already beginning to show signs of collapse? Or are they just using the Biden part of the call to cover up their real reason for going after Trump: They’re terrified he’s about to get to the true bottom of the Russia hoax, the supposed DNC hack, and all the rest of the plot the Democrats and Hillary Clinton used to first destroy Trump as a candidate and then attempt to discredit his presidency?
Maybe NeverTrumpers should worry less about impressing their leftist colleagues and worry more about what the Democrats are doing to undermine the greatest democracy on the planet.
