NYT Writer: “White Voters” Would Rather Burn Down Their House Than Do This

In a bizarre and shocking statement on Twitter Sunday, New York Times contributing writer Wajahat Ali gave his followers a disturbing glimpse into the mind of the modern leftist. Proving conclusively that the left is completely detached from reality, Ali said – with no evidence whatsoever – that many white conservatives were so racist that they’d rather cause mass destruction than offer a black person some common courtesy.

“I hope people realize that there are many white Republican voters in this country if they’re given a choice between renting a room in their house to a person of color or burning down the house, they will elect to burn down the entire neighborhood. It’s not just a small fringe,” Ali wrote. “If you think this is an exaggeration, you should study US history. Look at what many white communities did after desegregation. Some shut down the local pools instead of allowing equal access for everyone.

“They will rationalize it as legitimate victimhood. They feel everything and everyone is against them, and they are being ‘replaced,’” he continued. “It’s a zero sum game for them. Hence the 2016 election labeled as the Flight 93 election: charge the cockpit or die. At most, we will win over some, but only after they experience immense personal pain and suffering. But the rest are lost. It’s going to be a long, ugly, violent death rattle of a death cult. I would love nothing more to be wrong, but sadly I don’t think I am.”

Wow. Imagine thinking this way.

We can’t even follow his argumentative logic. Because (some) people behaved a certain way in the desegregation days of the 1960s, that says something about the way they think and act in 2020? By that logic, we might as well say that modern Germans would throw Jews in the ovens if given half the chance. We might as well say that a majority of white Americans would throw blacks back into slavery if they thought they could get away with it.

As for “Replacement Theory,” that is a strain of white nationalist belief that very few Americans subscribe to – much less your average white Republican voter. Wajahat Ali seems to think that most of Trump’s supporters wanted to be in Charlottesville, marching along with a torch.

We can promise that’s not the case.

On the other hand: How many Democratic voters want to get rid of all police? How many of them want to open the borders? How many of them want to destroy Mount Rushmore? How many of them would like to burn the U.S. Constitution, swap out the national anthem for a pop song, and put “Black Lives Matter” on the face of our currency? How many believe that the very act of voting for Donald Trump is racist in and of itself?

These people have come untethered from sanity. THAT is what “many white Republican voters” are concerned about. And they are quite right to be concerned.
