House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has lost all shame under the pressure of the coronavirus pandemic. If it weren’t for the media’s zeal to destroy President Donald Trump, the story of Pelosi’s actions and words in 2020 would make for some damn interesting features. From her colossal failure in impeaching the president to the unbelievable disrespect of ripping up the State of the Union speech to her bizarre and conflicting actions during the pandemic, Pelosi’s last few months have been an exercise in incompetence. But, since she’s been anointed a legendary feminist hero by the left-wing media, no such exposes have been published.
Because Pelosi knows that she’s shielded by her friends in the press, she is free to go out on television and make statements that bear no relation to reality. For instance, last week she had the gall to blame Mitch McConnell and the Republicans for blocking additional funding to the Paycheck Protection Program. This, despite the fact that the funding bill was introduced to the Senate floor by McConnell himself. Only a Democrat could get away with that level of deception.
Then we have Pelosi’s attacks on Trump for his response to the pandemic. She was on CNN this weekend, telling Jake Tapper that Trump’s ban on Chinese travel should have gone further, blocking U.S. citizens from returning home.
“Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign told me earlier this month that he supported President Trump’s partial travel restrictions on January 31st blocking foreign nationals from China from coming to the United States. Do you agree that it was the right move by President Trump at the time?” asked host Jake Tapper.
“Tens of thousands of people were still allowed in from China. It wasn’t as it is described as this great moment, there were Americans coming back or green card holders coming back,” Pelosi said. “If you’re going to shut the door because you have an evaluation of an epidemic, then shut the door.”
So Pelosi’s position, in late April of 2020, is that Trump’s travel ban didn’t go far enough to keep the United States safe? That’s a remarkable claim, given that she said at the time that “the Trump administration’s expansion of its outrageous, un-American travel ban threatens our security, our values, and the rule of law.”
But this is the same woman who has repeatedly accused Trump of being slow to recognize the threat posed by the coronavirus. Rarely is it mentioned by the liberal media that Pelosi herself was out in San Francisco’s Chinatown in late February, practically begging people to come down and shop, dine out, and join the party. You have to wonder how many people got infected because of Pelosi’s irresponsible call to action.
If we had a sane, nonpartisan media, Pelosi would be exposed as the biggest fool in Washington. We’ll just have to hope that most Americans can see that truth for themselves.
