Has an alleged #MeToo victim ever been treated with as little respect as Tara Reade? Even with what we know about the Democrat/media alliance and the lengths the latter will go to cover for the sins of the former, this saga has been eye-opening and disturbing.
It was no surprise to see the media trash Trump for four years straight after treating Obama as the Golden Messiah for the previous eight. But it’s one thing for the media to behave utterly hypocritically in terms of covering politics; it’s another for them to throw their own left-wing ideals under the bus as soon as they become politically inconvenient. The media’s treatment of Tara Reade has been despicable and shameful.
In remarks to Fox News this week, Reade said that she was beside herself with the way the media has given Joe Biden a pass. Since Reade went public with her graphic allegations against the Democratic frontrunner, Biden has been interviewed at least a dozen times by everyone from NBC to ABC to CNN. None of them even so much as hinted at the accusations.
“I think it’s shocking that this much time has passed and that he is an actual nominee for president and they’re not asking the questions,” Reade said. “He’s been on ‘Anderson Cooper’ at least twice where he was not asked. I guess my question is, if this were Donald Trump, would they treat it the same way? If this were Brett Kavanaugh, did they treat it the same way? In other words, it’s politics and political agenda playing a role in objective reporting and asking the question.”
There is, of course, no “question” about it, because we have hard evidence in both of those cases. When the subject was Trump, the media piled on. The accusations were the proof. No investigations needed. Hell, they tried to make us believe that Trump’s “Access Hollywood” remarks were tantamount to an admission of guilt. And we don’t even need to get into E. Jean Carroll, whose credibility – or even her basic sanity – was highly questionable. That didn’t stop the media from treating her as though she were beyond dispute.
But when it comes to Reade, the fact that she was a Bernie supporter and that she’s made some favorable remarks about Russia is enough to cast her out into the land of permanent darkness.
“There are two things happening at once,” Reade said. “[Biden] is not making himself accessible to be asked the question. And when he does make himself accessible, they are not asking, those anchors. And so that tells there may be a political agenda behind that and that’s gross. I’m a survivor and I would like the question asked.”
So would we. And now that a “Larry King Live” tape from 1993 has surfaced, complete with a call from Reade’s mother asking what a Washington staffer might do if she wanted to report her “senator” boss, there is now far more corroborating evidence to support Reade than there ever was to support Christine Blasey Ford.
If feminists and liberals want to ever have any #MeToo credibility again, they’d better rethink how they’re handling Tara Reade.
