There is probably no one in America left with a waffling view on President Donald Trump’s impeachment at this point. You either think he withheld Ukrainian aid as an exchange for Biden dirt or you don’t. You either think this is an impeachable offense or you don’t. You either buy everything Adam Schiff and the Democrats sell you about this horrific, unprecedented, “dictator” of a president, or you have a fully-intact, fully-functioning brain. It’s that simple. To put it another way: No one is seriously waiting on the edge of their seats, chomping at the bit to hear from former National Security Adviser John Bolton.
So now that Bolton’s manuscript has apparently leaked to The New York Times, we’re going to go around in circles for a couple of days and pretend as though any of this really matters. And it does. It actually matters a lot.
Just not for the reasons that the media is going to spend a lot of time on.
The real scandal here is not whatever the ‘Stache wrote in his unpublished book. The real scandal is how and why this manuscript wound up in the hands of the New York Times. Ordinarily, we might believe that this was the work of Bolton and his publishing team. Certainly, they managed to get the link up on Amazon pretty damn quickly, so we’re not ruling it out just yet. But it’s unusual that Bolton’s publishers would turn around and point the finger at the White House.
According to them, they didn’t share the manuscript with “close associates” as the Times reported. Indeed, the only copy out there in the world was sitting in the National Security Council for review. But then, why in the world would members of President Trump’s national security team want to leak the contents of this manuscript to The New York Times?
“A source close to the Trump administration informs Breitbart News that Army Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, a senior ethics lawyer for the National Security Council (NSC), is in charge of reviewing all publications by current and former NSC officials,” reported Breitbart on Monday. “The official added that Yevgeny Vindman could have seen former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s draft manuscript after it was submitted for prepublication review at the end of December.”
Vindman. Vindman…that name is so—
Oh right, it’s the twin brother of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman – chief impeachment inquiry star witness for the Democrats and holder of an office…right across the hall from his brother!
This is a guy who is actually facing calls for a court martial, so you think he might have a vested interest in leaking this Bolton manuscript to The Times?
The left will tolerate virtually any amount of wrongdoing as long as it fits their agenda, but if either of the Vindmans had anything to do with the leak of this manuscript, it’s time for heads to roll.
