While the Seattle police chief and the mayor are apparently at odds about what should be done about the world’s newest country – the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone – the activists who are currently laying siege to six blocks of downtown real estate say they will only disperse when their demands are met. The “collective black voices” of the CHAZ have delivered a list of said demands to city officials, and they are every bit as insane and removed from reality as the occupation itself.
Rather than put an end to this mayhem once and for all – and rather than do so before people begin fleeing Seattle en masse for greener pastures – Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has indicated that it’s really no big deal that antifa and Black Lives Matter have taken control of a large swath of the city.
“I don’t know,” she said on CNN when asked about how long she would allow this anarchy to continue. “We could have a summer of love.”
Durkan’s “summer of love” apparently includes roughing up people who don’t belong in the CHAZ, choking them out when they refuse to bow to the in-the-moment demands of the warlords, and extorting local businesses who happen to operate in the Zone.
“We’ve also received reports that these armed people may be demanding payment from business owners in exchange for some of that protection,” Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said Thursday. “We’ve also heard that they may be demanding to see identification from people who live in the area. This is not legal, and we’ve asked anyone who may be experiencing this to come forward and file a police report so that we can investigate these crimes.”
What can be done to put an end to this madness? Well, the cops could go in with the National Guard (and other reinforcement, if needed) and take care of it rather quickly.
Or, the city could give the anarchists what they want.
What might that be? Well, it includes the complete abolition of the Seattle Police Department. It includes a policy of free college for everyone in the state of Washington. It includes “new trials for every violent black convicted inmate.” It means letting all prisoners vote while in prison, it means abolishing imprisonment itself, and it means giving black people their own segregated hospitals. Those are just a few of the ridiculous demands that officials must meet before these terrorists give up control of downtown.
You know, unless they think of some other stuff in the meantime.
If Seattle residents don’t vote every single city official out of office at the earliest possible opportunity, they are as deranged as the people occupying the CHAZ.
