The FBI doesn’t seem to have either the time or the inclination to launch full-scale investigations into the countless examples of leftist violence that we’ve seen over the past six months, but boy, when they saw video of a few pickup trucks messing around with a Biden/Harris bus in Texas? They hopped right into action, announcing that they were putting their best men on the case. It’s apparently a crime in 2020 to fly a Trump flag and surround a Biden bus. Who knew?
“If you need any further proof that the FBI will look for any reason to target Trump supporters,” sneered Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
“In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong,” tweeted President Trump. “Instead, the FBI & Justice should be investigating the terrorists, anarchists, and agitators of ANTIFA, who run around burning down our Democrat run cities and hurting our people!”
No, no, Mr. President, don’t you know that “white supremacy” is the greatest threat to America’s domestic national security? Oh, and by the way, do you denounce white supremacists? Hmm? Hmm? Hmm? Do you? Oh, goodness, where is the fainting couch?
At a rally in Michigan, the president joked about the incident, which was filmed and widely shared on Twitter.
“You see the way our people, they — you know they were protecting his bus yesterday,” Trump said. “Because they’re nice. So his bus — they had hundreds of cars, Trump, Trump, Trump and the American flag. You see Trump and the American flag. Do you ever notice when you see the other side — I don’t even see much of the other side.”
We doubt that the Trump supporters flanking the bus had “protection” on their mind, but we also doubt the Biden camp’s theory that these trucks were trying to run the bus off the road. Yes, there was a collision between one of the trucks and an SUV, but it’s not clear that the wreck was intentional. And frankly, if that number of trucks had wanted to put the bus off the road, they would have easily done so. That the bus continued traveling down the road is a testament to the fact that this one a non-violent protest.
We understand, though, why Biden’s supporters were confused; their version of non-violent protest usually entails plenty of violence.
