In comments to Fox News on Wednesday night, President Donald Trump promised that if Joe Biden secures the Democratic nomination, his dealings with Ukraine during the Obama administration will be thoroughly examined and discussed during the general election.
Biden, who has come under scrutiny for demanding a Ukrainian prosecutor resign while said prosecutor was investigating the energy company the vice president’s son, Hunter, just happened to be working for, is looking more and more like the man who will represent the Democratic Party in the fall.
“It will be a major issue in the campaign,” Trump said. “I will bring that up all the time because I don’t see any way out.”
Indeed, the news on the Ukraine/Burisma front got worse for Biden just as he was relishing his Super Tuesday dominance. On Wednesday, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) announced that an interim report on the subject would be coming soon from the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
“These are questions that Joe Biden has not adequately answered,” Johnson told reporters. “And if I were a Democrat primary voter, I’d want these questions satisfactorily answered before I cast my final vote.”
Democrats, who continue to call this story of corruption “debunked” and “widely discredited,” are reportedly planning to accuse any Republican who follows the story of helping Russia meddle in the 2020 election. Because apparently they think that accusation still has gas left in the tank?
“I am concerned to see that in the Senate there seems to be a renewed interest in furthering these bogus Russian narratives through the use of their investigative powers,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (speaking of debunked and discredited). “I just think it’s so deeply destructive to be effectively working in a concert with Russian propaganda artists.”
Well, Adam, no one in this country has done more to help Moscow’s campaign of division than you. From your months of lies on cable news, where you pretended to know more about Trump’s associations with Russia than the rest of us, to your pathetic impeachment trial, you’ve done more than anyone to water the seeds of government distrust that Putin allegedly planted. By all means, though, keep hitting that COLLUSION hammer. See what happens in November.
Fact is, if Biden’s corruption scandal truly has been “debunked and discredited,” then the former vice president has absolutely nothing to worry about. Sadly for him, that just isn’t the case. Whether or not it can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he pressured Ukraine to fire prosecutor Viktor Shokin because of his son’s lucrative job, there’s a hell of a lot more evidence pointing to that than there is pointing to Trump’s collusion with Russia. And we’ve yet to hear any explanation (that isn’t laughable) for why Hunter Biden deserved a million dollars a year from Burisma in the first place.
Point blank, if you don’t want issues of corruption tainting the election, don’t nominate people who are saddled with corruption scandals.
Of course, if your alternative is to nominate the guy who’s talking up Fidel Castro…
