Trump’s Defense Lawyer Dismisses Impeachment as “Basic Trash”

In an interview with Judge Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, now a member of President Trump’s impeachment defense team, said that House Democrats should be ashamed of the “basic trash” they sent over to the Senate.

Insisting that there was no substance to the articles of impeachment, Bondi assured Pirro that it would not take long for the Senate to see what a flimsy case Rep. Adam Schiff and his goons have concocted.

“If you and I were falsely accused we would want witnesses too, but now this thing has become so flimsy that there’s absolutely nothing there in the articles of impeachment,” Bondi said. “It’s an insult to the American people. It certainly is to the president, but I think now we’re just ready to put this behind him.”

Bondi said that the impeachment articles themselves were little more than a collection of partisan complaints about the president.

“They have not charged the president with any crime because the president did nothing wrong,” Bondi said. “There was no crime. The transcript of that phone call speaks for itself. And yet they’re sending this basic trash over to the U.S. Senate. The Senate’s a lot smarter than that — and especially with Adam Schiff presenting, ‘bring it on’ because we’re ready to go.”

From a purely political point of view, it boggles the imagination to consider how Nancy Pelosi allowed the Democratic Party to put themselves in this unenviable position. We are reminded of Elizabeth Warren’s pre-primary blunder when she was baited by President Trump (and a few leftist podcasters) into “proving” her Native American ancestry with that disastrous DNA test. How can you go so far out of the way to create catastrophe for yourself? This is the central question of this doomed impeachment.

With every passing day, it seems that the case against Trump gets weaker – not stronger. The Democrats are promising new evidence for the trial, which includes a meaningless report from the Government Accountability Office and some less-than-meaningless notes from Giuliani associate Lev Parnas. Really? Democrats didn’t learn their lesson from the Michael Cohen fiasco?

Everywhere you turn, you can find rags like the Washington Post insisting that Democrats don’t need to find a crime in order to impeach the president and remove him from office. But once you’re in the position of arguing this point, you’ve already lost, no? Yes, we’re sure you can dream up a theoretical scenario where Congress can remove a president for no reason whatsoever. But to paraphrase Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park: Just because you can do something, it doesn’t mean you should.

Basic trash is a kind way to put what the Democrats have done here.
